But Rehoboam rejected their advice and consulted the young advisers who served him, with whom he had grown up. ¹ 

He followed in the footsteps of Ahab’s dynasty, ¹  for his mother gave him evil advice. ² 

The king, his officials, and the entire assembly in Jerusalem decided to observe the Passover in the second month.

The entire assembly then decided to celebrate for seven more days; so they joyfully celebrated for seven more days.

he consulted with his advisers and military officers about stopping up the springs ¹  outside the city, and they supported him.

King Rehoboam consulted with the older advisers who had served ¹  his father Solomon when he had been alive. He asked them, ²  “How do you advise me to answer these people?”

While he was speaking, Amaziah ¹  said to him, “Did we appoint you to be a royal counselor? Stop prophesying or else you will be killed!” ²  So the prophet stopped, but added, “I know that the Lord has decided ³  to destroy you, because you have done this thing and refused to listen to my advice.”

He met ¹  with the people and appointed musicians to play before the Lord and praise his majestic splendor. As they marched ahead of the warriors they said: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his loyal love endures.” ² 

He did evil in the sight of ¹  the Lord like Ahab’s dynasty because, after his father’s death, they ²  gave him advice that led to his destruction.

After King Amaziah of Judah consulted with his advisers, ¹  he sent this message to the king of Israel, Joash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, “Come, face me on the battlefield.” ² 

He asked them, “How do you advise me to respond to these people who said to me, ‘Lessen the demands your father placed on us’?” ¹
