Moses said to Korah, “Listen now, you sons of Levi!

He has brought you near and all your brothers, the sons of Levi, with you. Do you now seek ¹  the priesthood also?

Now the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, daughter of Levi, who was born ¹  to Levi in Egypt. And to Amram she bore Aaron, Moses, and Miriam their sister.

¹ Now Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, who were Reubenites, ²  took men ³ 

You must write Aaron’s name on the staff of Levi; for one staff is for the head of every tribe. ¹ 

“Bring with you your brothers, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, so that they may join ¹  with you and minister to you while ²  you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony.

See, I have given the Levites all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they perform – the service of the tent of meeting.

put fire in them, and set incense on them before the Lord tomorrow, and the man whom the Lord chooses will be holy. You take too much upon yourselves, you sons of Levi!”

On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony – and ¹  the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted, and brought forth buds, and produced blossoms, and yielded almonds! ²
