These are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that Moses spoke to the Israelites after he had brought them out of Egypt,

So keep the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that I today am commanding you to do.

who justly treats ¹  the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing.

You must love the Lord your God and do what he requires; keep his statutes, ordinances, and commandments ¹  at all times.

Be certain to keep all the statutes and ordinances that I am presenting to you today.

If a person commits a sin punishable by death and is executed, and you hang the corpse ¹  on a tree,

You must not pervert justice due a resident foreigner or an orphan, or take a widow’s garment as security for a loan.

‘Cursed is the one who perverts justice for the resident foreigner, the orphan, and the widow.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

I will sharpen my lightning-like sword, and my hand will grasp hold of the weapon of judgment; ¹  I will execute vengeance on my foes, and repay those who hate me! ² 

They will teach Jacob your ordinances and Israel your law; they will offer incense as a pleasant odor, and a whole offering on your altar.

They ¹  must not discriminate in judgment, but hear the lowly ²  and the great alike. Nor should they be intimidated by human beings, for judgment belongs to God. If the matter being adjudicated is too difficult for them, they should bring it before me for a hearing.

Look! I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the Lord my God told me to do, so that you might carry them out in ¹  the land you are about to enter and possess.

And what other great nation has statutes and ordinances as just ¹  as this whole law ²  that I am about to share with ³  you today?

Moreover, at that same time the Lord commanded me to teach you statutes and ordinances for you to keep in the land which you are about to enter and possess. ¹ 

Now these are the commandments, ¹  statutes, and ordinances that the Lord your God instructed me to teach you so that you may carry them out in the land where you are headed ² 

When your children ¹  ask you later on, “What are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that the Lord our God commanded you?”

Be sure you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments, ordinances, and statutes that I am giving you today.

You must appoint judges and civil servants ¹  for each tribe in all your villages ²  that the Lord your God is giving you, and they must judge the people fairly. ³ 

You must not pervert justice or show favor. Do not take a bribe, for bribes blind the eyes of the wise and distort ¹  the words of the righteous. ² 

You will go to the Levitical priests and the judge in office in those days and seek a solution; they will render a verdict.
