Is it not true ¹  that if you do what is right, you will be fine? ²  But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching ³  at the door. It desires to dominate you, but you must subdue it.” ⁴

Then the man ¹  said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.” ²  “I will not let you go,” Jacob replied, ³  “unless you bless me.” ⁴ 

We will give you our consent on this one condition: You must become ¹  like us by circumcising ²  all your males.

But if you do not agree to our terms ¹  by being circumcised, then we will take ²  our sister ³  and depart.”

If you send ¹  our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy food for you.

Then Joseph said, “If your money is gone, bring your livestock, and I will give you food ¹  in exchange for ²  your livestock.”

Now, if you will show faithful love to my master, tell me. But if not, tell me as well, so that I may go on my way.” ¹ 

If he said, ¹  ‘The speckled animals ²  will be your wage,’ then the entire flock gave birth to speckled offspring. But if he said, ‘The streaked animals will be your wage,’ then the entire flock gave birth to streaked offspring.

“This pile of stones and the pillar are reminders that I will not pass beyond this pile to come to harm you and that you will not pass beyond this pile and this pillar to come to harm me. ¹
