The people were 16,000, of which the Lord’s tribute was 32 people. ¹ 

and 16,000 people.

“‘But the person ¹  who acts defiantly, ²  whether native-born or a resident foreigner, insults ³  the Lord. ⁴  That person ⁵  must be cut off ⁶  from among his people.

and 32,000 young women who had never had sexual intercourse with a man. ¹ 

“Whoever kills any person, the murderer must be put to death by the testimony ¹  of witnesses; but one witness cannot ²  testify against any person to cause him to be put to death.

“‘Whoever touches ¹  the corpse ²  of any person ³  will be ceremonially unclean ⁴  seven days.

“‘All the days that he separates himself to the Lord he must not contact ¹  a dead body. ² 

But now we ¹  are dried up, ²  and there is nothing at all before us ³  except this manna!”

“‘If any person ¹  sins unintentionally, then he must bring a yearling female goat for a purification offering.

And whatever the unclean person touches will be unclean, and the person who touches it will be unclean until evening.’”

“But every vow of a widow or of a divorced woman which she has pledged for herself will remain intact. ¹ 

If she made the vow in her husband’s house or put herself under obligation with an oath,

“Any vow or sworn obligation that would bring affliction to her, ¹  her husband can confirm or nullify. ² 

Moreover, you must not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death; he must surely be put to death.

Anyone who touches the corpse of any dead person and does not purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the Lord. And that person must be cut off from Israel, ¹  because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him. He will be unclean; his uncleanness remains on him.

and her father hears of her vow or the obligation to which she has pledged herself, and her father remains silent about her, ¹  then all her vows will stand, ²  and every obligation to which she has pledged herself will stand.

“Command the Israelites to expel ¹  from the camp every leper, ²  everyone who has a discharge, ³  and whoever becomes defiled by a corpse. ⁴ 

“Tell the Israelites, ‘When ¹  a man or a woman commits any sin that people commit, ²  thereby breaking faith ³  with the Lord, and that person is found guilty, ⁴ 

Then the priest will offer one for a purification offering ¹  and the other ²  as a burnt offering, ³  and make atonement ⁴  for him, because of his transgression ⁵  in regard to the corpse. So he must reconsecrate ⁶  his head on that day.

And the priest must make atonement for the person who sins unintentionally – when he sins unintentionally before the Lord – to make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
