What more can I do for my vineyard beyond what I have already done? When I waited for it to produce edible grapes, why did it produce sour ones instead?

Indeed, a large vineyard ¹  will produce just a few gallons, ²  and enough seed to yield several bushels ³  will produce less than a bushel.” ⁴

Your thinking is perverse! ¹  Should the potter be regarded as clay? ²  Should the thing made say ³  about its maker, “He didn’t make me”? Or should the pottery say about the potter, “He doesn’t understand”?

A carpenter takes measurements; ¹  he marks out an outline of its form; ²  he scrapes ³  it with chisels, and marks it with a compass. He patterns it after the human form, ⁴  like a well-built human being, and puts it in a shrine. ⁵ 

I am ¹  the one who forms light and creates darkness; ²  the one who brings about peace and creates calamity. ³  I am the Lord, who accomplishes all these things.

who announces the end from the beginning and reveals beforehand ¹  what has not yet occurred, who says, ‘My plan will be realized, I will accomplish what I desire,’

The people who do this will be blessed, ¹  the people who commit themselves to obedience, ²  who observe the Sabbath and do not defile it, who refrain from doing anything that is wrong. ³ 

Too bad for the wicked sinners! For they will get exactly what they deserve. ¹ 

Those who make cloth ¹  will be demoralized; ²  all the hired workers will be depressed. ³ 

You who are far away, listen to what I have done! You who are close by, recognize my strength!”

He is the one who reduces rulers to nothing; he makes the earth’s leaders insignificant.

everyone who belongs to me, ¹  whom I created for my glory, whom I formed – yes, whom I made!

Their land is full of worthless idols; they worship ¹  the product of their own hands, what their own fingers have fashioned.

The sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, is certainly ready to carry out the decreed destruction throughout the land. ¹ 

Sing to the Lord, for he has done magnificent things, let this be known ¹  throughout the earth!

For this reason what they have made and stored up, they carry over the Stream of the Poplars.
