the descendants of Rezin, the descendants of Nekoda, the descendants of Gazzam,

the descendants of Reaiah, the descendants of Rezin, the descendants of Nekoda,

Then the Lord provoked ¹  their adversaries to attack them, ²  he stirred up ³  their enemies –

In those days the Lord prompted King Rezin of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah to attack Judah. ¹ 

At that time King Rezin of Syria and King Pekah son of Remaliah of Israel attacked Jerusalem. ¹  They besieged Ahaz, ²  but were unable to conquer him. ³ 

The king of Assyria responded favorably to his request; ¹  he ²  attacked Damascus and captured it. He deported the people ³  to Kir and executed Rezin.

For Syria’s leader is Damascus, and the leader of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will no longer exist as a nation. ¹ 

“These people ¹  have rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah ²  and melt in fear over Rezin and the son of Remaliah. ³

Tell him, ‘Make sure you stay calm! ¹  Don’t be afraid! Don’t be intimidated ²  by these two stubs of smoking logs, ³  or by the raging anger of Rezin, Syria, and the son of Remaliah.
