They engaged in prostitution in Egypt; in their youth they engaged in prostitution. Their breasts were squeezed there; lovers ¹  fondled their virgin nipples there.

Wherever the spirit ¹  would go, they would go, ²  and the wheels would rise up beside them because the spirit ³  of the living being was in the wheel.

The hand ¹  of the Lord rested on me there, and he said to me, “Get up, go out to the valley, ²  and I will speak with you there.”

But take a few strands of hair ¹  from those and tie them in the ends of your garment. ² 

I brought them to the land which I swore ¹  to give them, but whenever they saw any high hill or leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices there and presented the offerings that provoke me to anger. They offered their soothing aroma there and poured out their drink offerings.

There was a chamber with its door by the porch of the gate; ¹  there they washed the burnt offering.

For there on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the sovereign Lord, all the house of Israel will serve me, all of them ¹  in the land. I will accept them there, and there I will seek your contributions and your choice gifts, with all your holy things.

Every living creature which swarms where the river ¹  flows will live; there will be many fish, for these waters flow there. It will become fresh ²  and everything will live where the river flows.

Then I perceived that the glory of the God of Israel was there, as in the vision I had seen earlier in the valley.

“When they return to it, they will remove from it all its detestable things and all its abominations.

I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.

“Assyria is there with all her assembly around her grave, ¹  all of them struck down by the sword. ² 

I was concerned for my holy reputation ¹  which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they went.

In whatever tribe the foreigner resides, there you will give him his inheritance,” declares the sovereign Lord.

The circumference of the city will be six miles. ¹  The name of the city from that day forward will be: ‘The Lord Is There.’” ² 

I came to the exiles at Tel Abib, ¹  who lived by the Kebar River. ²  I sat dumbfounded among them there, where they were living, for seven days. ³ 

“‘On that day I will assign Gog a grave in Israel. It will be the valley of those who travel east of the sea; it will block the way of the travelers. There they will bury Gog and all his horde; they will call it the valley of Hamon-Gog. ¹ 

Each moved straight ahead ¹  – wherever the spirit ²  would go, they would go, without turning as they went.

So I got up and went out to the valley, and the glory of the Lord was standing there, just like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, ¹  and I threw myself face down.

And the Lord said, “This is how the people of Israel will eat their unclean food among the nations ¹  where I will banish them.”
