The men of the ¹  city, the leaders ²  and the nobles who lived there, ³  followed the written orders Jezebel had sent them. ⁴ 

But Rehoboam rejected their advice and consulted the young advisers who served him, with whom he had grown up. ¹ 

This happened because of the sins which Jeroboam committed and which he made Israel commit. These sins angered the Lord God of Israel. ¹ 

He will hand Israel over to their enemies ¹  because of the sins which Jeroboam committed and which he made Israel commit.”

When they return to you with all their heart and being ¹  in the land where they are held prisoner, ²  and direct their prayers to you toward the land you gave to their ancestors, your chosen city, and the temple I built for your honor, ³

Judah did evil in the sight of ¹  the Lord. They made him more jealous by their sins than their ancestors had done. ² 

This happened because of the sins he committed. He did evil in the sight of ¹  the Lord and followed in Jeroboam’s footsteps and encouraged Israel to continue sinning. ² 

Omri’s supporters were stronger than those who supported Tibni son of Ginath. Tibni died; Omri became king.
