Solomon ruled over all Israel from Jerusalem ¹  for forty years.

(Rehoboam continued to rule over the Israelites who lived in the cities of Judah.)

His son Jehoshaphat replaced him as king and solidified his rule over Israel. ¹ 

Solomon left the meeting tent at the worship center in Gibeon and went to Jerusalem, where he reigned over Israel. ¹ 

Then Solomon passed away ¹  and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam replaced him as king.

Then Rehoboam passed away ¹  and was buried in the City of David. ²  His son Abijah replaced him as king.

In the eighteenth year of the reign of King Jeroboam, Abijah became king over Judah.

Jotham passed away ¹  and was buried in the City of David. ²  His son Ahaz replaced him as king.

Manasseh passed away ¹  and was buried in his palace. His son Amon replaced him as king.

Jehoshaphat passed away ¹  and was buried with his ancestors ²  in the City of David. ³  His son Jehoram ⁴  replaced him as king.

The list of Joash’s ¹  sons, the many prophetic oracles pertaining to him, and the account of his building project on God’s temple are included in the record of the Scroll of the Kings. ²  His son Amaziah replaced him as king.

Ahaz passed away ¹  and was buried in the City of David; ²  they did not bring him to the tombs of the kings of Israel. His son Hezekiah replaced him as king.

(13:23) ¹  Abijah passed away ²  and was buried in the City of David. ³  His son Asa replaced him as king. During his reign ⁴  the land had rest for ten years.

Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah. He was thirty-five years old when he became king and he reigned for twenty-five years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother was Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi.

The residents of Jerusalem ¹  made his youngest son Ahaziah king in his place, for the raiding party that invaded the city with the Arabs had killed all the older sons. ²  So Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.

Uzziah passed away ¹  and was buried near his ancestors ²  in a cemetery ³  belonging to the kings. (This was because he had a skin disease.) ⁴  His son Jotham replaced him as king.

Hezekiah passed away ¹  and was buried on the ascent of the tombs of the descendants of David. All the people of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem buried him with great honor. ²  His son Manasseh replaced him as king.

The king of Egypt made Jehoahaz’s ¹  brother Eliakim king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. Necho seized his brother Jehoahaz and took him to Egypt.

The rest of the events of Jehoiakim’s reign, including the horrible sins he committed and his shortcomings, are recorded in the Scroll of the Kings of Israel and Judah. ¹  His son Jehoiachin replaced him as king.

At the beginning of the year King Nebuchadnezzar ordered him to be brought ¹  to Babylon, along with the valuable items in the Lord’s temple. In his place he made his relative ²  Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.
