Your eyes have seen the great judgments, ¹  those signs and mighty wonders.

You will go to the Levitical priests and the judge in office in those days and seek a solution; they will render a verdict.

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, you must not learn the abhorrent practices of those nations.

then both parties to the controversy must stand before the Lord, that is, before the priests and judges ¹  who will be in office in those days.

You must go to the priest in office at that time and say to him, “I declare today to the Lord your ¹  God that I have come into the land that the Lord ²  promised ³  to our ancestors ⁴  to give us.”

Among those nations you will have no rest nor will there be a place of peaceful rest for the soles of your feet, for there the Lord will give you an anxious heart, failing eyesight, and a spirit of despair.

Beware that the heart of no man, woman, clan, or tribe among you turns away from the Lord our God today to pursue and serve the gods of those nations; beware that there is among you no root producing poisonous and bitter fruit. ¹
