<p class="poetry">I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">their sin by inflicting them with bruises.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Hold them accountable for all their sins!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Do not vindicate them!<n id="2" />p>

They will bear their punishment;<n id="1" /> the punishment of the one who sought an oracle will be the same as the punishment of the prophet who gave it<n id="2" />

<p class="poetry">They feed on the sin offerings of my people;p> <p class="poetry">their appetites long for their iniquity!p>

<t /><p class="poetry">They have sunk deep into corruption<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">as in the days of Gibeah.p> <p class="poetry">He will remember their wrongdoing.p> <p class="poetry">He will repay them for their sins.p>

You must not expose the nakedness of your mother&#8217;s sister and your father&#8217;s sister, for such a person has laid bare his own close relative.<n id="1" /> They must bear their punishment for iniquity.<n id="2" />

However, when<n id="1" /> they confess their iniquity and their ancestors&#8217; iniquity which they committed by trespassing against me,<n id="2" /> by which they also walked<n id="3" /> in hostility against me<n id="4" />

(and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and<n id="1" /> then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for<n id="2" /> their iniquity,

Do not cover their iniquity, and do not wipe out their sin from before them. For they have bitterly offended<n id="1" /> the builders!<n id="2" />p>

<n id="1" /><p class="poetry">I will punish the world for its evil,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and wicked people for their sin.p> <p class="poetry">I will put an end to the pride of the insolent,p> <p class="poetry">I will bring down the arrogance of tyrants.<n id="3" />p>

For I see everything they do. Their wicked ways are not hidden from me. Their sin is not hidden away where I cannot see it.<n id="1" />

Before I restore them<n id="1" /> I will punish them in full<n id="2" /> for their sins and the wrongs they have done. For they have polluted my land with the lifeless statues of their disgusting idols. They have filled the land I have claimed as my own<n id="3" /> with their detestable idols.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

I will purify them from all the sin that they committed against me. I will forgive all their sins which they committed in rebelling against me.<n id="1" />

I have determined that the number of the years of their iniquity are to be the number of days<n id="1" /> for you &#8211; 390 days.<n id="2" /> So bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.<n id="3" />p>

&#8220;Son of man, these men have erected their idols in their hearts and placed the obstacle leading to their iniquity<n id="1" /> right before their faces. Should I really allow them to seek<n id="2" /> me?

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;&#8216;But the Levites who went far from me, straying off from me after their idols when Israel went astray, will be responsible for<n id="1" /> their sin.

The land will be abandoned by them<n id="1" /> in order that it may make up for<n id="2" /> its Sabbaths while it is made desolate<n id="3" /> without them,<n id="4" /> and they will make up for their iniquity because<n id="5" /> they have rejected my regulations and have abhorred<n id="6" /> my statutes.

But the Levites must perform the service<n id="1" /> of the tent of meeting, and they must bear their iniquity.<n id="2" /> It will be a perpetual ordinance throughout your generations that among the Israelites the Levites<n id="3" /> have no inheritance.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> spoke about these people.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;They truly<n id="2" /> love to go astray.p> <p class="poetry">They cannot keep from running away from me.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">So I am not pleased with them.p> <p class="poetry">I will now call to mind<n id="4" /> the wrongs they have done<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">and punish them for their sins.&#8221;p>
