Wild animals will rest there, the ruined ¹  houses will be full of hyenas. ²  Ostriches will live there, wild goats will skip among the ruins. ³ 

No one will live there again; no one will ever reside there again. ¹  No bedouin ²  will camp ³  there, no shepherds will rest their flocks ⁴  there.

Indeed, they will hear meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there. ¹ 

No lions will be there, no ferocious wild animals will be on it ¹  – they will not be found there. Those delivered from bondage will travel on it,

So in the east ¹  extol the Lord, along the seacoasts extol ²  the fame ³  of the Lord God of Israel.

Her nobles will have nothing left to call a kingdom and all her officials will disappear. ¹ 

On every high, elevated hill you prepare your bed; you go up there to offer sacrifices.

Owls ¹  will make nests and lay eggs ²  there; they will hatch them and protect them. ³  Yes, hawks ⁴  will gather there, each with its mate.

A thoroughfare will be there – it will be called the Way of Holiness. ¹  The unclean will not travel on it; it is reserved for those authorized to use it ²  – fools ³  will not stray into it.
