<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> says,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I have heard what those prophets who are prophesying lies in my name are saying. They are saying, &#8216;I have had a dream! I have had a dream!&#8217;<n id="2" />

I did not send those prophets, though they claim to be prophesying in my name. They may be saying, &#8216;No war or famine will happen in this land.&#8217; But I, the <sc>Lordsc>, say this about<n id="1" /> them: &#8216;War and starvation will kill those prophets.&#8217;<n id="2" />

<p class="poetry">I did not send those prophets.p> <p class="poetry">Yet they were in a hurry to give their message.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I did not tell them anything.p> <p class="poetry">Yet they prophesied anyway.p>

Those prophets are just prophesying lies. They are prophesying the delusions of their own minds.<n id="1" />

So I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm<n id="1" /> that I am opposed to those prophets who steal messages from one another that they claim are from me.<n id="2" />

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all<n id="1" /> says to the people of Jerusalem:<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Do not listen to whatp> <p class="poetry">those prophets are saying to you.p> <p class="poetry">They are filling you with false hopes.p> <p class="poetry">They are reporting visions of their own imaginations,p> <p class="poetry">not something the <sc>Lordsc> has given them to say.<n id="3" />p>

All the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, &#8220;Attack Ramoth Gilead! You will succeed; the <sc>Lordsc> will hand it over to the king.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">David and the army officers selected some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy as they played stringed instruments and cymbals.<n id="1" /> The following men were assigned this responsibility:<n id="2" />p>

All the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, &#8220;Attack Ramoth Gilead! You will succeed; the <sc>Lordsc> will hand it over to the king!&#8221;

Over and over again<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc> has sent<n id="2" /> his servants the prophets to you. But you have not listened or paid attention.<n id="3" />

You must pay attention to the exhortations of my servants the prophets. I have sent them to you over and over again.<n id="1" /> But you have not paid any attention to them.

Do not listen to the prophets who are telling you that you do not need to serve<n id="1" /> the king of Babylon. For they are prophesying lies to you.

For I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm<n id="1" /> that I did not send them. They are prophesying lies to you. If you<n id="2" /> listen to them, I will drive you and the prophets who are prophesying lies out of the land and you will all die in exile.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

&#8220;Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to the prophets who prophesy from their imagination:<n id="1" /> &#8216;Hear the word of the <sc>Lordsc>!

those prophets of Israel who would prophesy about Jerusalem<n id="1" /> and would see visions of peace for it, when there was no peace,&#8221; declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;p>

So the king of Israel assembled 400 prophets and asked them, &#8220;Should we attack Ramoth Gilead or not?&#8221;<n id="1" /> They said, &#8220;Attack! God<n id="2" /> will hand it over to the king.&#8221;

Now the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, &#8220;Look, the prophets are in complete agreement that the king will succeed.<n id="1" /> Your words must agree with theirs; you must predict success!&#8221;<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then I said, &#8220;Oh, Lord <sc>Godsc>,<n id="1" /> look!<n id="2" /> The prophets are telling them that you said,<n id="3" /> &#8216;You will not experience war or suffer famine.<n id="4" /> I will give you lasting peace and prosperity in this land.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to me, &#8220;Those prophets are prophesying lies while claiming my authority!<n id="1" /> I did not send them. I did not commission them.<n id="2" /> I did not speak to them. They are prophesying to these people false visions, worthless predictions,<n id="3" /> and the delusions of their own mind.

<p class="poetry">So then I, the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">have something to say concerning the prophets of Jerusalem:<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8216;I will make these prophets eat the bitter food of sufferingp> <p class="poetry">and drink the poison water of judgment.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">For the prophets of Jerusalem are the reason<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">that ungodliness<n id="5" /> has spread throughout the land.&#8217;&#8221;p>
