I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among foreign countries.

“‘But I will spare some of you. Some will escape the sword when you are scattered in foreign lands. ¹ 

I will scatter you among the nations and disperse you among various countries; I will remove your impurity from you. ¹ 

I scattered them among the nations; they were dispersed throughout foreign countries. In accordance with their behavior and their deeds I judged them.

“I will make you desolate and an object of scorn among the nations around you, in the sight of everyone who passes by.

“Then they will know that I am the Lord when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them among foreign countries.

I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among foreign countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

I will disturb ¹  many peoples, when I bring about your destruction among the nations, among countries you do not know.

I was concerned for my holy reputation ¹  which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they went.

And the Lord said, “This is how the people of Israel will eat their unclean food among the nations ¹  where I will banish them.”

Your fame ¹  spread among the nations because of your beauty; your beauty was perfect because of the splendor which I bestowed on you, declares the sovereign Lord. ² 

I also swore ¹  to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them throughout the lands. ² 

I will hand it over, ¹  along with the Ammonites, ²  to the tribes ³  of the east, so that the Ammonites will no longer be remembered among the nations.

It will be the most insignificant of the kingdoms; it will never again exalt itself over the nations. I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations.

I will multiply the fruit of the trees and the produce of the fields, so that you will never again suffer the disgrace of famine among the nations.

“I will display my majesty ¹  among the nations. All the nations will witness the judgment I have executed, and the power I have exhibited ²  among them.

Then your survivors will remember me among the nations where they are exiled. They will realize ¹  how I was crushed by their unfaithful ²  heart which turned from me and by their eyes which lusted after their idols. They will loathe themselves ³  because of the evil they have done and because of all their abominable practices.

“Therefore say: ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Although I have removed them far away among the nations and have dispersed them among the countries, I have been a little ¹  sanctuary for them among the lands where they have gone.’

But I will let a small number of them survive the sword, famine, and pestilence, so that they can confess all their abominable practices to the nations where they go. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

I will turn the land of Egypt into a desolation in the midst of desolate lands; for forty years her cities will lie desolate in the midst of ruined cities. I will scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse them among foreign countries.
