just as I was in my most productive time, ¹  when God’s intimate friendship ²  was experienced in my tent,

a God who is honored ¹  in the great angelic assembly, ²  and more awesome than ³  all who surround him?

Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the godly and the congregation.

I did not spend my time in the company of other people, laughing and having a good time. I stayed to myself because I felt obligated to you ¹  and because I was filled with anger at what they had done.

Yet which of them has ever stood in the Lord’s inner circle ¹  so they ²  could see and hear what he has to say? ³  Which of them have ever paid attention or listened to what he has said?

My hand will be against the prophets who see delusion and announce lying omens. They will not be included in the council ¹  of my people, nor be written in the registry ²  of the house of Israel, nor enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the sovereign Lord.
