<p class="poetry">Set up a gravestone for Moab,p> <p class="poetry">for it will certainly be laid in ruins!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Its cities will be laid wastep> <p class="poetry">and become uninhabited.&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Edom will become an object of horror.p> <p class="poetry">All who pass by it will be filled with horror;p> <p class="poetry">they will hiss out their scornp> <p class="poetry">because of all the disasters that have happened to it.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">Babylon hammered the whole world to pieces.p> <p class="poetry">But see how that &#8216;hammer&#8217; has been broken and shattered!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">See what an object of horrorp> <p class="poetry">Babylon has become among the nations!p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;See how Babylon<n id="1" /> has been captured!p> <p class="poetry">See how the pride of the whole earth has been taken!p> <p class="poetry">See what an object of horrorp> <p class="poetry">Babylon has become among the nations!<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Like a lion that has come up from its lair<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">the one who destroys nations has set out from his home base.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">He is coming out to lay your land waste.p> <p class="poetry">Your cities will become ruins and lie uninhabited.p>

I will make this city an object of horror, a thing to be hissed at. All who pass by it will be filled with horror and will hiss out their scorn<n id="1" /> because of all the disasters that have happened to it.<n id="2" />

This whole area<n id="1" /> will become a desolate wasteland. These nations will be subject to the king of Babylon for seventy years.&#8217;<n id="2" />p>

I made Jerusalem<n id="1" /> and the cities of Judah, its kings and its officials drink it.<n id="2" /> I did it so Judah would become a ruin. I did it so Judah, its kings, and its officials would become an object<n id="3" /> of horror and of hissing scorn, an example used in curses.<n id="4" /> Such is already becoming the case!<n id="5" />

<p class="poetry">For a nation from the north<n id="1" /> will attack Babylon.p> <p class="poetry">It will lay her land waste.p> <p class="poetry">People and animals will flee out of it.p> <p class="poetry">No one will inhabit it.&#8217;p>

So I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm that<n id="1" /> I will send for all the peoples of the north<n id="2" /> and my servant,<n id="3" /> King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy<n id="4" /> this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it<n id="5" /> and make them everlasting ruins.<n id="6" /> I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.<n id="7" />

I will see to it that all the Judean remnant that was determined to go<n id="1" /> and live in the land of Egypt will be destroyed. Here in the land of Egypt they will fall in battle<n id="2" /> or perish from starvation. People of every class<n id="3" /> will die in war or from starvation. They will become an object of horror and ridicule, an example of those who have been cursed and that people use in pronouncing a curse.<n id="4" />
