So there were quarrels ¹  between Abram’s herdsmen and Lot’s herdsmen. ²  (Now the Canaanites and the Perizzites were living in the land at that time.) ³ 

In this way God has snatched away your father’s livestock and given them to me.

The field and the cave in it were acquired from the sons of Heth.” ¹ 

He had ¹  so many sheep ²  and cattle ³  and such a great household of servants that the Philistines became jealous ⁴  of him.

The men are shepherds; ¹  they take care of livestock. ²  They have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’

He took ¹  away all the livestock he had acquired in Paddan Aram and all his moveable property that he had accumulated. Then he set out toward the land of Canaan to return to his father Isaac. ² 

Tell him, ‘Your servants have taken care of cattle ¹  from our youth until now, both we and our fathers,’ so that you may live in the land of Goshen, ²  for everyone who takes care of sheep is disgusting ³  to the Egyptians.”

The land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and your brothers in the best region of the land. They may live in the land of Goshen. If you know of any highly capable men ¹  among them, put them in charge ²  of my livestock.”
