You must not worship the <sc>Lordsc> your God the way they worship.

The heavens &#8211; indeed the highest heavens &#8211; belong to the <sc>Lordsc> your God, as does the earth and everything in it.

<t /><p class="bodytext">You are children<n id="1" /> of the <sc>Lordsc> your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave your forehead bald<n id="2" /> for the sake of the dead.

You must eat bread made without yeast for six days. The seventh day you are to hold an assembly for the <sc>Lordsc> your God; you must not do any work on that day.<n id="1" />p>

Whatever you vow, you must be careful to do what you have promised, such as what you have vowed to the <sc>Lordsc> your God as a freewill offering.

Then you must build an altar there to the <sc>Lordsc> your God, an altar of stones &#8211; do not use an iron tool on them.

You must build the altar of the <sc>Lordsc> your God with whole stones and offer burnt offerings on it to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

When I looked, you had indeed sinned against the <sc>Lordsc> your God and had cast for yourselves a metal calf;<n id="1" /> you had quickly turned aside from the way he<n id="2" /> had commanded you!

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must set apart<n id="1" /> for the <sc>Lordsc> your God every firstborn male born to your herds and flocks. You must not work the firstborn of your bulls or shear the firstborn of your flocks.

If they have any kind of blemish &#8211; lameness, blindness, or anything else<n id="1" /> &#8211; you may not offer them as a sacrifice to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Observe the month Abib<n id="1" /> and keep the Passover to the <sc>Lordsc> your God, for in that month<n id="2" /> he<n id="3" /> brought you out of Egypt by night.

You must sacrifice the Passover animal<n id="1" /> (from the flock or the herd) to the <sc>Lordsc> your God in the place where he<n id="2" /> chooses to locate his name.

Then you are to celebrate the Festival of Weeks<n id="1" /> before the <sc>Lordsc> your God with the voluntary offering<n id="2" /> that you will bring, in proportion to how he<n id="3" /> has blessed you.

You must not sacrifice to him<n id="1" /> a bull or sheep that has a blemish or any other defect, because that is considered offensive<n id="2" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

so that they cannot teach you all the abhorrent ways they worship<n id="1" /> their gods, causing you to sin against the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

When you make a vow to the <sc>Lordsc> your God you must not delay in fulfilling it, for otherwise he<n id="1" /> will surely<n id="2" /> hold you accountable as a sinner.<n id="3" />

Then<n id="1" /> he will elevate you above all the nations he has made and you will receive praise, fame, and honor.<n id="2" /> You will<n id="3" /> be a people holy to the <sc>Lordsc> your God, as he has said.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel: &#8220;Be quiet and pay attention, Israel. Today you have become the people of the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

Secret things belong to the <sc>Lordsc> our God, but those that are revealed belong to us and our descendants<n id="1" /> forever, so that we might obey all the words of this law.p>
