<p class="poetry">The one who obeys commandments guards<n id="1" /> his life;p> <p class="poetry">the one who despises his ways<n id="2" /> will die.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">For the commandments<n id="1" /> are like<n id="2" /> a lamp,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">instruction is like a light,p> <p class="poetry">and rebukes of discipline are like<n id="4" /> the road leading to life,<n id="5" />p>

<p class="poetry">Whoever obeys his<n id="1" /> command will not experience harm,p> <p class="poetry">and a wise person<n id="2" /> knows the proper time<n id="3" /> and procedure.p>

For if you carefully observe all of these commandments<n id="1" /> I am giving you<n id="2" /> and love the <sc>Lordsc> your God, live according to his standards,<n id="3" /> and remain loyal to him,

and the curse if you pay no attention<n id="1" /> to his<n id="2" /> commandments and turn from the way I am setting before<n id="3" /> you today to pursue<n id="4" /> other gods you have not known.

Then you must come to the place the <sc>Lordsc> your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing<n id="1" /> everything I am commanding you &#8211; your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared,<n id="2" /> and all your choice votive offerings which you devote to him.<n id="3" />

For I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm that<n id="1" /> I will soon give the order and bring them back to this city. They will fight against it and capture it and burn it down. I will also make the towns of Judah desolate so that there will be no one living in them.&#8221;&#8217;&#8221;p>
