“‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for the nations which I am about to drive out before you ¹  have been defiled with all these things.

And you must not eat any blood of the birds or the domesticated land animals in any of the places where you live. ¹ 

This is ¹  a perpetual statute throughout your generations ²  in all the places where you live: You must never eat any fat or any blood.’” ³ 

These are the ones that are unclean to you among all the swarming things. Anyone who touches them when they die will be unclean until evening.

Do not make yourselves detestable by any of the swarming things. ¹  You must not defile yourselves by them and become unclean by them,

or in the warp or woof ¹  of the linen or the wool, or in leather or anything made of leather, ² 

You must not do any work. This is a perpetual statute throughout your generations ¹  in all the places where you live.

When a person touches anything unclean (whether human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or an unclean detestable creature) ¹  and eats some of the meat of the peace offering sacrifice which belongs to the Lord, that person will be cut off from his people.’” ² 

The meat which touches anything ceremonially ¹  unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned up in the fire. As for ceremonially clean meat, ²  everyone who is ceremonially clean may eat the meat.

All that walk on their paws among all the creatures that walk on all fours ¹  are unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass will be unclean until the evening,

Any food that may be eaten which becomes soaked with water ¹  will become unclean. Anything drinkable ²  in any such vessel will become unclean. ³ 

But if the priest examines it and ¹  the infection has not spread in the garment or in the warp or in the woof or in any article of leather,

Anyone who touches anything that was under him ¹  will be unclean until evening, and the one who carries those items ²  must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

Anyone who touches any furniture she sits on must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

or a man who touches a swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, ¹  or touches a person ²  by which he becomes unclean, whatever that person’s impurity ³  –

“‘On this very day you must proclaim an assembly; it is to be a holy assembly for you. ¹  You must not do any regular work. This is a perpetual statute in all the places where you live throughout your generations. ² 

You must sound loud horn blasts ¹  – in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, on the Day of Atonement – you must sound the horn in your entire land.

Or when there is ¹  a person who touches anything ceremonially ²  unclean, whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of an unclean domesticated animal, or the carcass of an unclean creeping thing, even if he did not realize it, ³  but he himself has become unclean and is guilty; ⁴ 

for I am the Lord your God and you are to sanctify yourselves and be holy because I am holy. You must not defile yourselves by any of the swarming things that creep on the ground,

Then she will remain ¹  thirty-three days in blood purity. ²  She must not touch anything holy and she must not enter the sanctuary until the days of her purification are fulfilled. ³
