No human foot will pass through it, and no animal’s foot will pass through it; it will be uninhabited for forty years.

<p class="poetry">Avoid it, do not go on it;p> <p class="poetry">turn away from it, and go on.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">He said, &#8220;My lord,<n id="1" /> if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by and leave your servant.<n id="2" />

Go up to the top of Pisgah and take a good look to the west, north, south, and east,<n id="1" /> for you will not be allowed to cross the Jordan.

Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to him, &#8220;This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, &#8216;I will give it to your descendants.&#8217;<n id="1" /> I have let you see it,<n id="2" /> but you will not cross over there.&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">When you pass through the waters, I am with you;p> <p class="poetry">when you pass<n id="1" /> through the streams, they will not overwhelm you.p> <p class="poetry">When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;p> <p class="poetry">the flames will not harm<n id="2" /> you.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Or suppose I were to bring a sword against that land and say, &#8216;Let a sword pass through the land,&#8217; and I were to kill both people and animals.

&#8220;This pile of stones and the pillar are reminders that I will not pass beyond this pile to come to harm you and that you will not pass beyond this pile and this pillar to come to harm me.<n id="1" />
