The five leaders of the Philistines watched what was happening and then returned to Ekron on the same day.

When the Israelites returned from their hot pursuit of the Philistines, they looted their camp.

So he had them stay with the king of Moab; they stayed with him the whole time ¹  that David was in the stronghold.

So David’s servants went on their way. When they had returned, they came and told David ¹  all these things.

They got up early the next morning and after worshiping the Lord, they returned to their home at Ramah. Elkanah had marital relations with ¹  his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered ²  her.

When the residents of Ashdod got up early the next day, ¹  Dagon was lying on the ground before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set him back in his place.

They took captive the women who were in it, from the youngest to the oldest, but they did not kill anyone. They simply carried them off and went on their way.

Now David had run away and escaped. He went to Samuel in Ramah and told him everything that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went and stayed at Naioth.

When the men of Israel who were in the valley and across the Jordan saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the cities and fled. The Philistines came and occupied them.
