But Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, hugged his neck, and kissed him. Then they both wept.

They took forty days, for that is the full time needed for embalming.<n id="1" /> The Egyptians mourned<n id="2" /> for him seventy days.<n id="3" />p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Now the mixed multitude<n id="2" /> who were among them craved more desirable foods,<n id="3" /> and so the Israelites wept again<n id="4" /> and said, &#8220;If only we had meat to eat!<n id="5" />

When all the community saw that Aaron was dead, the whole house of Israel mourned for Aaron thirty days.p>

The Israelites mourned for Moses in the deserts of Moab for thirty days; then the days of mourning for Moses ended.p>

<p class="bodytext">When the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s messenger finished speaking these words to all the Israelites, the people wept loudly.<n id="1" />

So the people came to Bethel<n id="1" /> and sat there before God until evening, weeping loudly and uncontrollably.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">When the messengers went to Gibeah (where Saul lived)<n id="1" /> and informed the people of these matters, all the people wept loudly.<n id="2" />

Then David and the men<n id="1" /> who were with him wept loudly<n id="2" /> until they could weep no more.<n id="3" />

So they buried Abner in Hebron. The king cried loudly<n id="1" /> over Abner&#8217;s grave and all the people wept too.

<p class="bodytext">Just as he finished speaking, the king&#8217;s sons arrived, wailing and weeping.<n id="1" /> The king and all his servants wept loudly<n id="2" /> as well.

But when they gazed intently<n id="1" /> from a distance but did not recognize<n id="2" /> him, they began to weep loudly. Each of them tore his robes, and they threw dust into the air over their heads.<n id="3" />

The Israelites went up and wept before the <sc>Lordsc> until evening. They asked the <sc>Lordsc>, &#8220;Should we<n id="1" /> again march out to fight<n id="2" /> the Benjaminites, our brothers?&#8221;<n id="3" /> The <sc>Lordsc> said, &#8220;Attack them!&#8221;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">So all the Israelites, the whole army,<n id="1" /> went up to<n id="2" /> Bethel.<n id="3" /> They wept and sat there before the <sc>Lordsc>; they did not eat anything<n id="4" /> that day until evening. They offered up burnt sacrifices and tokens of peace<n id="5" /> to the <sc>Lordsc>.

<p class="bodytext">When the servant had left, David got up from beside the mound,<n id="1" /> knelt<n id="2" /> with his face to the ground, and bowed three times. Then they kissed each other and they both wept, especially David.

They lamented and wept and fasted until evening because Saul, his son Jonathan, the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s people, and the house of Israel had fallen by the sword.p>
