So now, you kings, do what is wise; ¹  you rulers of the earth, submit to correction! ² 

because they have turned away from following him, and have not understood ¹  any of his ways,

and all people will fear. ¹  They will proclaim ²  what God has done, and reflect on his deeds.

Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds, they failed to remember your many acts of loyal love, and they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea. ¹ 

For our leaders ¹  are stupid. They have not sought the Lord’s advice. ²  So they do not act wisely, and the people they are responsible for ³  have all been scattered.

But the Lord is with me to help me like an awe-inspiring warrior. ¹  Therefore those who persecute me will fail and will not prevail over me. They will be thoroughly disgraced because they did not succeed. Their disgrace will never be forgotten.
