<p class="poetry">Cry out, O nations, with his people,p> <p class="poetry">for he will avenge his servants&#8217; blood;p> <p class="poetry">he will take vengeance against his enemies,p> <p class="poetry">and make atonement for his land and people.p>

When Sihon and all his troops<n id="1" /> emerged to encounter us in battle at Jahaz,<n id="2" />

<p class="poetry">For the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s allotment is his people,p> <p class="poetry">Jacob is his special possession.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> alone was guiding him,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">no foreign god was with him.p>

the <sc>Lordsc> our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, along with his sons<n id="1" /> and everyone else.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Next we set out on<n id="1" /> the route to Bashan,<n id="2" /> but King Og of Bashan and his whole army<n id="3" /> came out to meet us in battle at Edrei.<n id="4" />

So the <sc>Lordsc> our God did indeed give over to us King Og of Bashan and his whole army and we struck them down until not a single survivor was left.<n id="1" />

When you see<n id="1" /> your neighbor&#8217;s donkey or ox fallen along the road, do not ignore it;<n id="2" /> instead, you must be sure<n id="3" /> to help him get the animal on its feet again.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> will judge his people,p> <p class="poetry">and will change his plans concerning<n id="1" /> his servants;p> <p class="poetry">when he sees that their power has disappeared,p> <p class="poetry">and that no one is left, whether confined or set free.p>

<t /><p class="poetry">And this is the blessing<n id="1" /> to Judah. He said,p> <p class="poetry">Listen, O <sc>Lordsc>, to Judah&#8217;s voice,p> <p class="poetry">and bring him to his people.p> <p class="poetry">May his power be great,p> <p class="poetry">and may you help him against his foes.p>

The <sc>Lordsc>, however, said to me, &#8220;Don&#8217;t be afraid of him because I have already given him, his whole army,<n id="1" /> and his land to you. You will do to him exactly what you did to King Sihon of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon.&#8221;

It must be with him constantly and he must read it as long as he lives, so that he may learn to revere the <sc>Lordsc> his God and observe all the words of this law and these statutes and carry them out.
