You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the field. ¹ 

You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the field.

These cities are Bezer, in the desert plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan for the Manassehites.

So it was in the Transjordan, in Moab, that Moses began to deliver these words: ¹

In your distress when all these things happen to you in the latter days, ¹  if you return to the Lord your God and obey him ² 

Indeed, he may live among you in any place he chooses, in whichever of your villages ¹  he prefers; you must not oppress him.

Only in the presence of the Lord your God may you eat these, in the place he ¹  chooses. This applies to you, your son, your daughter, your male and female servants, and the Levites ²  in your villages. In that place you will rejoice before the Lord your God in all the output of your labor. ³ 

You must not make for yourself an image ¹  of anything in heaven above, on earth below, or in the waters beneath. ² 

then both parties to the controversy must stand before the Lord, that is, before the priests and judges ¹  who will be in office in those days.

Are they not across the Jordan River, ¹  toward the west, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite Gilgal ²  near the oak ³  of Moreh?

for you may do so ¹  only in the place the Lord chooses in one of your tribal areas – there you may do everything I am commanding you. ² 

You will go to the Levitical priests and the judge in office in those days and seek a solution; they will render a verdict.

If a homicide victim ¹  should be found lying in a field in the land the Lord your God is giving you, ²  and no one knows who killed ³  him,
