Suppose a man marries a woman, has sexual relations with her, ¹  and then rejects ²  her,

The elders of that city must then seize the man and punish ¹  him.

If a virgin is engaged to a man and another man meets ¹  her in the city and has sexual relations with ²  her,

This is the blessing Moses the man of God pronounced upon the Israelites before his death.

you must bring to your city gates ¹  that man or woman who has done this wicked thing – that very man or woman – and you must stone that person to death. ² 

If a man is caught having sexual relations with ¹  a married woman ²  both the man who had relations with the woman and the woman herself must die; in this way you will purge ³  evil from Israel.

The sword will make people childless outside, and terror will do so inside; they will destroy ¹  both the young man and the virgin, the infant and the gray-haired man.

But if the man came across ¹  the engaged woman in the field and overpowered her and raped ²  her, then only the rapist ³  must die.

(23:1) ¹  A man may not marry ²  his father’s former ³  wife and in this way dishonor his father. ⁴ 

Suppose a man comes across a virgin who is not engaged and overpowers and rapes ¹  her and they are discovered.

A man with crushed ¹  or severed genitals ²  may not enter the assembly of the Lord. ³ 

The young woman’s father must say to the elders, “I gave my daughter to this man and he has rejected ¹  her.

The man among you who is by nature tender and sensitive will turn against his brother, his beloved wife, and his remaining children.

You must not desire ¹  another man’s ²  wife, nor should you crave his ³  house, his field, his male and female servants, his ox, his donkey, or anything else he owns.” ⁴ 

A woman must not wear men’s clothing, ¹  nor should a man dress up in women’s clothing, for anyone who does this is offensive ²  to the Lord your God.

for the man ¹  met her in the field and the engaged woman cried out, but there was no one to rescue her.

If brothers live together and one of them dies without having a son, the dead man’s wife must not remarry someone outside the family. Instead, her late husband’s brother must go to her, marry her, ¹  and perform the duty of a brother-in-law. ² 

Suppose a man or woman is discovered among you – in one of your villages ¹  that the Lord your God is giving you – who sins before the Lord your God ²  and breaks his covenant

Suppose a man has two wives, one whom he loves more than the other, ¹  and they both ²  bear him sons, with the firstborn being the child of the less loved wife.

When a man is newly married, he need not go into ¹  the army nor be obligated in any way; he must be free to stay at home for a full year and bring joy to ²  the wife he has married.
