You must not rule over him harshly, ¹  but you must fear your God.

He must be with the one who bought him ¹  like a yearly hired worker. ²  The one who bought him ³  must not rule over him harshly in your sight.

You may give them as inheritance to your children after you to possess as property. You may enslave them perpetually. However, as for your brothers the Israelites, no man may rule over his brother harshly. ¹ 

I will set my face against you. You will be struck down before your enemies, those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when there is no one pursuing you.

You must observe my regulations ¹  and you must be sure to walk in my statutes. ²  I am the Lord your God.

So you must keep ¹  my statutes and my regulations; anyone who does so will live by keeping them. ²  I am the Lord.

You must be sure to obey all my statutes and regulations. ¹  I am the Lord.’”

You must obey my statutes and my regulations; you must be sure to keep them ¹  so that you may live securely in the land. ² 

These are the statutes, regulations, and instructions which the Lord established ¹  between himself and the Israelites at Mount Sinai through ²  Moses.

He then presented the burnt offering, and did it according to the standard regulation. ¹ 

“‘If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments, ¹ 

You yourselves must obey ¹  my statutes and my regulations and must not do any of these abominations, both the native citizen and the resident foreigner in your midst, ² 

“‘You must be sure to obey all my statutes and regulations, ¹  so that ²  the land to which I am about to bring you to take up residence there does not vomit you out.

if you reject my statutes and abhor my regulations so that you do not keep ¹  all my commandments and you break my covenant –

You must be sure to obey my statutes. ¹  I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

There will be one regulation ¹  for you, whether a foreigner or a native citizen, for I am the Lord your God.’”

You must not walk in the statutes of the nation ¹  which I am about to drive out before you, because they have done all these things and I am filled with disgust against them.

The second bird ¹  he must make a burnt offering according to the standard regulation. ²  So the priest will make atonement ³  on behalf of this person for ⁴  his sin which he has committed, and he will be forgiven. ⁵ 

You must not do as they do in the land of Egypt where you have been living, ¹  and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan into which I am about to bring you; ²  you must not ³  walk in their statutes.

You must not eat bread, roasted grain, or fresh grain until this very day, ¹  until you bring the offering of your God. This is a perpetual statute throughout your generations ²  in all the places where you live.
