If you set them free, you must not send them away empty-handed.

then he promises, ¹  “I will send rain for your land ²  in its season, the autumn and the spring rains, ³  so that you may gather in your grain, new wine, and olive oil.

So all of you approached me and said, “Let’s send some men ahead of us to scout out the land and bring us back word as to how we should attack it and what the cities are like there.”

Furthermore, the Lord your God will release hornets ¹  among them until the very last ones who hide from you ²  perish.

If a man marries a woman and she does not please him because he has found something offensive ¹  in her, then he may draw up a divorce document, give it to her, and evict her from his house.

The Lord will plague you with deadly diseases ¹  until he has completely removed you from the land you are about to possess.

You should not consider it difficult to let him go free, for he will have served you for six years, twice ¹  the time of a hired worker; the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.

The Lord will open for you his good treasure house, the heavens, to give you rain for the land in its season and to bless all you do; ¹  you will lend to many nations but you will not borrow from any.

and that you may drive out all your enemies just as the Lord said.

You will go insane from seeing all this.

I will increase their ¹  disasters, I will use up my arrows on them.

Then the Lord will scatter you among the peoples and there will be very few of you ¹  among the nations where the Lord will drive you.

The Lord will decree blessing for you with respect to your barns and in everything you do – yes, he will bless you in the land he ¹  is giving you.

then he ¹  will drive out all these nations ahead of you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you.
