He did this by predestining ¹  us to adoption as his ²  sons ³  through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure ⁴  of his will –

Let nobody deceive you with empty words, for because of these things God’s wrath comes on the sons of disobedience. ¹ 

until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God – a mature person, attaining to ¹  the measure of Christ’s full stature. ² 

to the praise of the glory of his grace ¹  that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son. ² 

in which ¹  you formerly lived ²  according to this world’s present path, ³  according to the ruler of the kingdom ⁴  of the air, the ruler of ⁵  the spirit ⁶  that is now energizing ⁷  the sons of disobedience, ⁸ 

Now this secret ¹  was not disclosed to people ²  in former ³  generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by ⁴  the Spirit,

In him ¹  we have redemption through his blood, ²  the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
