Therefore, cleanse ¹  your heart and stop being so stubborn! ² 

Therefore, I am commanding you to set apart for yourselves three cities.

Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt; therefore, I am commanding you to do all this.

“Therefore, keep the terms ¹  of this covenant and obey them so that you may be successful in everything you do.

Therefore, you remained at Kadesh for a long time – indeed, for the full time. ¹ 

Be careful, therefore, to do exactly what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn right or left!

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I am commanding you to do all this.

Therefore Levi has no allotment or inheritance ¹  among his brothers; ²  the Lord is his inheritance just as the Lord your God told him.

There will never cease to be some poor people in the land; therefore, I am commanding you to make sure you open ¹  your hand to your fellow Israelites ²  who are needy and poor in your land.

Understand, therefore, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is about to give you this good land as a possession, for you are a stubborn ¹  people!

Therefore the Lord brought us out of Egypt with tremendous strength and power, ¹  as well as with great awe-inspiring signs and wonders.

Today I invoke heaven and earth as a witness against you that I have set life and death, blessing and curse, before you. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live!

For the Lord your God walks about in the middle of your camp to deliver you and defeat ¹  your enemies for you. Therefore your camp should be holy, so that he does not see anything indecent ²  among you and turn away from you.

However, you may not eat the following animals among those that chew the cud or those that have divided hooves: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger. ¹  (Although they chew the cud, they do not have divided hooves and are therefore ritually impure to you).

So keep the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that I today am commanding you to do.

You must love the Lord your God and do what he requires; keep his statutes, ordinances, and commandments ¹  at all times.

Now pay attention to all the commandments ¹  I am giving ²  you today, so that you may be strong enough to enter and possess the land where you are headed, ³ 

You must obey him ¹  and keep his commandments and statutes that I am giving you today.”

So realize that the Lord your God is the true God, ¹  the faithful God who keeps covenant faithfully ²  with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,
