The sower sows the word.

These are the ones on the path where the word is sown: Whenever they hear, immediately Satan ¹  comes and snatches the word ²  that was sown in them.

Others are the ones sown among thorns: They are those who hear the word,

These are the ones sown on rocky ground: As soon as they hear the word, they receive it with joy.

So ¹  with many parables like these, he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear.

They went out and proclaimed everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through the accompanying signs.]]

Then ¹  Jesus’ ²  mother and his brothers ³  came. Standing ⁴  outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.

So many gathered that there was no longer any room, not even by ¹  the door, and he preached the word to them.

But ¹  they have no root in themselves and do not endure. ²  Then, when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately they fall away.

but ¹  worldly cares, the seductiveness of wealth, ²  and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, ³  and it produces nothing.

Thus you nullify ¹  the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like this.”

But ¹  these are the ones sown on good soil: They hear the word and receive it and bear fruit, one thirty times as much, one sixty, and one a hundred.”

But Jesus, paying no attention to what was said, told the synagogue ruler, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”

Immediately a rooster ¹  crowed a second time. Then ²  Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept. ³ 

Simon’s mother-in-law was lying down, sick with a fever, so ¹  they spoke to Jesus ²  at once about her.

He spoke openly about this. So ¹  Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

They kept this statement to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead meant.

But at this statement, the man ¹  looked sad and went away sorrowful, for he was very rich. ² 

He also said to them, “A lamp ¹  isn’t brought to be put under a basket ²  or under a bed, is it? Isn’t it to be placed on a lampstand?

He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff ¹  – no bread, no bag, ²  no money in their belts –
