to sanctify her by cleansing her ¹  with the washing of the water by the word,

And take the helmet of salvation ¹  and the sword ²  of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And when ¹  you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christ ²  – you were marked with the seal ³  of the promised Holy Spirit, ⁴ 

You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, ¹  that it may give grace to those who hear.

Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power.

Fathers, ¹  do not provoke your children to anger, ²  but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Stand firm therefore, by fastening ¹  the belt of truth around your waist, ²  by putting on the breastplate of righteousness,
