Acts 10:15

Context
10:15 The voice 1  spoke to him again, a second time, “What God has made clean, you must not consider 2  ritually unclean!” 3

Romans 14:14-18

Context
14:14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean in itself; still, it is unclean to the one who considers it unclean. 14:15 For if your brother or sister 4  is distressed because of what you eat, 5  you are no longer walking in love. 6  Do not destroy by your food someone for whom Christ died. 14:16 Therefore do not let what you consider good 7  be spoken of as evil. 14:17 For the kingdom of God does not consist of food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. 14:18 For the one who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by people. 8

Romans 14:1

Context
Exhortation to Mutual Forbearance

14:1 Now receive the one who is weak in the faith, and do not have disputes over differing opinions. 9

Romans 4:4-5

Context
4:4 Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation. 10  4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, 11  his faith is credited as righteousness.

Titus 1:15

Context
1:15 All is pure to those who are pure. But to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

[10:15]  1 tn Grk “And the voice.” Because of the difference between Greek style, which often begins sentences or clauses with “and,” and English style, which generally does not, καί (kai) has not been translated here.

[10:15]  2 tn Or “declare.”

[10:15]  3 sn For the significance of this vision see Mark 7:14-23; Rom 14:14; Eph 2:11-22. God directed this change in practice.

[14:15]  4 tn Grk “brother.”

[14:15]  5 tn Grk “on account of food.”

[14:15]  6 tn Grk “according to love.”

[14:16]  7 tn Grk “do not let your good.”

[14:18]  8 tn Grk “by men”; but ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") is generic here (“people”) since the contrast in context is between God and humanity.

[14:1]  9 tn Grk “over opinions.” The qualifier “differing” has been supplied to clarify the meaning.

[4:4]  10 tn Grk “not according to grace but according to obligation.”

[4:5]  11 tn Or “who justifies the ungodly.”
