[21:35]  1 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Paul) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[21:35]  2 sn Paul had to be carried. Note how the arrest really ended up protecting Paul. The crowd is portrayed as irrational at this point.

[21:35]  3 tn This refers to mob violence (BDAG 175 s.v. βία b).

[20:19]  4 sn On humility see 2 Cor 10:1; 11:7; 1 Thess 2:6; Col 3:12; Eph 4:2; Phil 2:3-11.

[20:19]  5 sn These plots are mentioned in Acts 9:24; 20:13.

[3:10]  7 tn Grk “alms,” but this term is not in common use today, so the closest modern equivalent, “donations,” is used instead. The idea is that of a donation to charity.

[3:10]  8 sn Amazement is a frequent response to miracles of Jesus or the apostles. These took the ancients by as much surprise as they would people today. But in terms of response to what God is doing, amazement does not equal faith (Luke 4:36; 5:9, 26; 7:16).
