Daniel 4:18
Context4:18 “This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its 1 interpretation, for none of the wise men in 2 my kingdom are able to make known to me the interpretation. But you can do so, for a spirit of the holy gods is in you.”
Daniel 6:26
Context6:26 I have issued an edict that throughout all the dominion of my kingdom people are to revere and fear the God of Daniel.
“For he is the living God;
he endures forever.
His kingdom will not be destroyed;
his authority is forever. 3
Daniel 9:18
Context9:18 Listen attentively, 4 my God, and hear! Open your eyes and look on our desolated ruins 5 and the city called by your name. 6 For it is not because of our own righteous deeds that we are praying to you, 7 but because your compassion is abundant.
[4:18] 1 tc The present translation reads פִּשְׁרֵהּ (pishreh, “its interpretation”) with the Qere and many medieval Hebrew
[6:26] 3 tn Aram “until the end.”
[9:18] 5 tn Heb “turn your ear.”
[9:18] 6 tn Heb “desolations.” The term refers here to the ruined condition of Judah’s towns.
[9:18] 7 tn Heb “over which your name is called.” Cf. v. 19. This expression implies that God is the owner of his city, Jerusalem. Note the use of the idiom in 2 Sam 12:28; Isa 4:1; Amos 9:12.
