• [Psa 103:8] Lord, How Wondrous Are His Ways, The

  The Lord, how wondrous are His ways! How firm His truth! how large His grace! He takes His mercy for His throne, And thence He makes His glories known. Not half so high His power hath spread The starry heav’ns above our head, As His rich love exceeds our praise, Exceeds the highest hopes we raise. Not half so far hath nature placed The rising morning from the west, As His forgiving grace removes The daily guilt of those He loves. How slowly doth His wrath arise! On swifter wings salvation flies; And if He lets His anger burn, How soon His frowns to pity turn. Amidst His wrath compassion shines; His strokes are lighter than our sins; And while His rod corrects His saints, His ear indulges their complaints. So fathers their young sons chastise With gentle hand and melting eyes; The children weep beneath the smart, And move the pity of their heart. The mighty God, the wise and just, Knows that our frame is feeble dust; And will no heavy loads impose Beyond the strength that He bestows. He knows how soon our nature dies, Blasted by every wind that flies; Like grass we spring, and die as soon, Or morning flowers that fade at noon. But His eternal love is sure To all the saints, and shall endure; From age to age His truth shall reign, Nor children’s children hope in vain.

  When silent falls the gushing tear, O’er cheeks grown pale with care; And on the heart a cross is laid That seems too hard to bear, Remember what our Lord has said, And trust, in weal or woe, His holy Word, that changeth not, Though uttered years ago. Refrain “Like as a father pitieth His children, So the Lord pitieth them that fear Him, So the Lord pitieth them that fear Him.” When one by one our treasured hopes Like autumn leaves decay, And they who made our life most dear Are borne from us away, O look beyond the veil of time, Where springs of comfort flow, And trust His Word, that changeth not, Though uttered years ago.   The tender love a father has For all his children dear, Such love the Lord bestows on them Who worship Him in fear. The Lord remembers we are dust, And all our frailty knows; Man’s days are like the tender grass, And as the flower he grows. The flower is withered by the wind That smites with blighting breath; So man is quickly swept away Before the blast of death. Unchanging is the love of God, From age to age the same, Displayed to all who do His will And reverence His Name. Those who His gracious cov’nant keep The Lord will ever bless; Their children’s children shall rejoice To see His righteousness.

Psalms 145:8

• [Psa 145:8] The Greatness Of His Mercy

  When in Jesus we believe, and His pardon we receive, What a comfort to the soul the promise brings; That the weary and oppressed, when they come to Him for rest, He will cover with the shadow of His wings. Refrain O sing the greatness of His mercy, Unto those that seek Him ever full and free; O sing, while angels join the chorus, Rolling onward like the sea. When in Jesus we abide, and by faith are justified, We have peace with God the Father through His Name; And the joy that fills the heart, though its earthly hopes depart, Through His all atoning merit we may claim. • [Joe 2:13] Once More The Solemn Season Calls

  Once more the solemn season calls A holy fast to keep; And now within the temple walls Let priest and people weep. But vain all outward sign of grief, And vain the form of prayer, Unless the heart implore relief, And penitence be there. We smite the breast, we weep in vain, In vain in ashes mourn, Unless with penitential pain The smitten soul be torn. In sorrow true then let us pray To our offended God, From us to turn His wrath away And stay the uplifted rod. O God, our Judge and Father, deign To spare the bruisèd reed; We pray for time to turn again, For grace to turn indeed.
