4:18 anything that crawls ¹  on the ground, or any fish in the deep waters of the earth. ² 

Deuteronomy 12:16

12:16 However, you must not eat blood – pour it out on the ground like water.

Deuteronomy 22:12

22:12 You shall make yourselves tassels ³  for the four corners of the clothing you wear.

[4:18]  ¹ tn Heb “creeping thing.”

[4:18]  ² tn Heb “under the earth.”

[22:12]  ³ tn Heb “twisted threads” (גְּדִלִים, gÿdilim) appears to be synonymous with צִיצִת (tsitsit) which, in Num 15:38, occurs in a passage instructing Israel to remember the covenant. Perhaps that is the purpose of the tassels here as well. Cf. KJV, ASV “fringes”; NAB “twisted cords.”
