6:22 And he ¹  brought signs and great, devastating wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on his whole family ²  before our very eyes.

Deuteronomy 11:23

11:23 then he ³  will drive out all these nations ahead of you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you.

Deuteronomy 22:12

22:12 You shall make yourselves tassels ⁴  for the four corners of the clothing you wear.

[6:22]  ¹ tn Heb “the Lord.” See note on the word “his” in v. 17.

[6:22]  ² tn Heb “house,” referring to the entire household.

[11:23]  ³ tn Heb “the Lord.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons to avoid redundancy.

[22:12]  ⁵ tn Heb “twisted threads” (גְּדִלִים, gÿdilim) appears to be synonymous with צִיצִת (tsitsit) which, in Num 15:38, occurs in a passage instructing Israel to remember the covenant. Perhaps that is the purpose of the tassels here as well. Cf. KJV, ASV “fringes”; NAB “twisted cords.”
