Galatians 2:14

2:14 But when I saw that they were not behaving consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas ¹  in front of them all, “If you, although you are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to force ²  the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

Support One Another

6:1 Brothers and sisters, ³  if a person ⁴  is discovered in some sin, ⁵  you who are spiritual ⁶  restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. ⁷  Pay close attention ⁸  to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too.

[2:14]  ² tn Here ἀναγκάζεις (anankazei") has been translated as a conative present (see ExSyn 534).

[6:1]  ³ tn Grk “brothers.” See note on the phrase “brothers and sisters” in 1:11.

[6:1]  ⁴ tn Here ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") is used in a generic sense, referring to both men and women.

[6:1]  ⁵ tn Or “some transgression” (L&N 88.297).

[6:1]  ⁶ sn Who are spiritual refers to people who are controlled and directed by God’s Spirit.

[6:1]  ⁷ tn Or “with a gentle spirit” or “gently.”

[6:1]  ⁸ tn Grk “taking careful notice.”
