Genesis 2:1-2

2:1

heavens <08064> [Thus.]

that was in them <06635> [host.]

2:2

seventh ................. seventh <07637> [And on.]

seventh day God ............. on ... seventh day <03117 0430 07637> [seventh day God.]

The LXX., Syriac, and the Samaritan Text read the sixth day, which is probably the true reading; as [vav <\\See definition 02053\\>,] which stands for six, might easily be changed into [zayin,] which denotes seven.

ceased <07673> [rested.]

Or, rather, ceased, as the Hebrew word is not opposed to weariness, but to action; as the Divine Being can neither know fatigue, nor stand in need of rest.

Exodus 20:11

20:11

Exodus 31:17

31:17

sign <0226> [a sign.]

six days ........... on .... day <03117 08337> [six days.]

refreshed <05314> [and was refreshed.]

God, in condescension to human weakness, applies to himself here what belongs to man; though it may refer to the delight and satisfaction with which he contemplated the completion of all his works, and pronounced them very good.
