Isaiah 19:2

19:2 “I will provoke civil strife in Egypt, ¹ 

brothers will fight with each other,

as will neighbors,

cities, and kingdoms. ² 

Isaiah 22:9

22:9 You saw the many breaks

in the walls of the city of David; ³ 

you stored up water in the lower pool.

Isaiah 23:16

23:16 “Take the harp,

go through the city,

forgotten prostitute!

Play it well,

play lots of songs,

so you’ll be noticed!” ⁴ 

Isaiah 62:12

62:12 They will be called, “The Holy People,

the Ones Protected ⁵  by the Lord.”

You will be called, “Sought After,

City Not Abandoned.”

[19:2]  ¹ tn Heb I will provoke Egypt against Egypt” (NAB similar).

[19:2]  ² tn Heb “and they will fight, a man against his brother, and a man against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.” Civil strife will extend all the way from the domestic level to the provincial arena.

[22:9]  ³ tn Heb “the breaks of the city of David, you saw that they were many.”

[23:16]  ⁵ tn Heb “so you will be remembered.”
