Joshua 10:13

10:13 The sun stood still and the moon stood motionless while the nation took vengeance on its enemies. The event is recorded in the Scroll of the Upright One. ¹  The sun stood motionless in the middle of the sky and did not set for about a full day. ² 

Joshua 24:14

24:14 Now ³  obey ⁴  the Lord and worship ⁵  him with integrity and loyalty. Put aside the gods your ancestors ⁶  worshiped ⁷  beyond the Euphrates ⁸  and in Egypt and worship ⁹  the Lord.

[10:13]  ¹ tn Heb “Is it not written down in the Scroll of the Upright One.” Many modern translations render, “the Scroll [or Book] of Jashar,” leaving the Hebrew name “Jashar” (which means “Upright One”) untranslated.

[10:13]  ² tn Heb “and did not hurry to set [for] about a full day.”

[24:14]  ³ sn Joshua quotes the Lord’s words in vv. 2b-13 (note that the Lord speaks in the first person in these verses); in vv. 14-15 Joshua himself exhorts the people (note the third person references to the Lord).
