[22:13]  1 tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “so” to indicate the implied result of Jesus’ instructions.

[22:13]  2 tn The word “things” is not in the Greek text, but is implied. Direct objects were frequently omitted in Greek when clear from the context.

[22:13]  3 sn The author’s note that the disciples found things just as he had told them shows that Jesus’ word could be trusted.

[22:35]  4 tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

[22:35]  5 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[22:35]  6 tn Traditionally, “purse” (likewise in v. 36).

[22:35]  7 tn Or possibly “beggar’s bag” (L&N 6.145).

[22:35]  8 sn This refers back to 9:3 and 10:3-4. The Greek construction anticipates a negative reply which is indicated in the translation by the ‘tag’ at the end, “did you?” Nothing was lacking.

[22:35]  9 tn Grk “said.”

[16:4]  10 tn The first half of v. 4 resumes the statement of 16:1, ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν (tauta lelalhka Jumin), in a somewhat more positive fashion, omitting the reference to the disciples being caused to stumble.

[16:4]  11 tn Grk “their hour.”

[16:4]  12 tn The words “about them” are not in the Greek text, but are implied.

[16:4]  13 sn This verse serves as a transition between the preceding discussion of the persecutions the disciples will face in the world after the departure of Jesus, and the following discussion concerning the departure of Jesus and the coming of the Spirit-Paraclete. Jesus had not told the disciples these things from the beginning because he was with them.
