[20:47] 1 tn Grk “who,” continuing the sentence begun in v. 46.
[20:47] 2 sn How they were able to devour widows’ houses is debated. Did they seek too much for contributions, or take too high a commission for their work, or take homes after debts failed to be paid? There is too little said here to be sure.
[20:47] 3 tn Grk “houses,” “households”; however, the term can have the force of “property” or “possessions” as well (O. Michel, TDNT 5:131; BDAG 695 s.v. οἶκια 1.a).
[24:20] 4 sn Handed him over is another summary of the passion like Luke 9:22.
[24:20] 5 sn See the note on crucify in 23:21.
[23:40] 7 tn Grk “But answering, the other rebuking him, said.” This is somewhat redundant and has been simplified in the translation.
[23:40] 8 tn The particle used here (οὐδέ, oude), which expects a positive reply, makes this a rebuke – “You should fear God and not speak!”
[23:40] 9 tn The words “of condemnation” are not in the Greek text, but are implied.
