[Luk 5:5] Hear Us, O Lord
Hear us, O Lord, from Heaven Thy dwelling place:
Like them of old, in vain we toil all night,
Unless with us Thou go, who art the Light,
Come then, O Lord, that we may see Thy face.Thou, Lord, doest rule the raging of the sea,
When loud the storm and furious is the gale:
Strong is Thine arm; our little barques are frail:
Send us Thy help; remember Galilee.Our wives and children we commend to Thee:
For them we plough the land and plough the deep;
For them by day the golden corn we reap,
By night the silver harvest of the sea.We thank Thee, Lord, for sunshine, dew and rain,
Broadcast from heaven by Thine almighty hand—
Source of all life, unnumbered as the sand—
Bird, beast, and fish, herb, fruit and golden grain.O Bread of Life, Thou in Thy Word hast said,
Who feeds in faith on Me shall never die!
In mercy hear Thy hungry children’s cry—
Father, give us this day our daily bread!Sow in our hearts the seeds of Thy dear love,
That we may reap contentment, joy, and peace;
And when at last our earthly labors cease,
Grant us to join Thy harvest home above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Luk 5:20] The Hallowed Spot
There is a spot to me more dear
Than native vale or mountain;
A spot for which affection’s tear
Springs grateful from its fountain.
’Tis not where kindred souls abound,
Though that is almost Heaven,
But where I first my Savior found,
And felt my sins forgiven.Hard was my toil to reach the shore,
Long tossed upon the ocean;
Above me was the thunder’s roar,
Beneath, the wave’s commotion.
Darkly the pall of night was thrown
Around me faint with terror;
In that dark hour how did my groan
Ascend for years of error.Sinking and panting as for breath
I knew not help was near me;
I cried, “Oh, save me, Lord from death,
Immortal Jesus, hear me.”
Then quick as thought I felt Him mine,
My Savior stood before me;
I saw His brightness round me shine,
And shouted “Glory, Glory.”O sacred hour! O hallowed spot!
Where love divine first found me;
Wherever falls my distant lot,
My heart shall linger round thee.
And when from earth I rise, to soar
Up to my home in Heaven,
Down will I cast my eyes once more,
Where I was first forgiven.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Luk 5:31] Jesus Christ, Our Blessed Savior
Jesus Christ, our blessèd Savior,
Turned away God’s wrath forever;
By His bitter grief and woe
He saved us from the evil Foe.As His pledge of love undying
He, this precious food supplying,
Gives His body with the bread
And with the wine the blood He shed.Whoso to this board repaireth
May take heed how he prepareth;
For if he does not believe,
Then death for life he shall receive.Praise the Father, who from Heaven
Unto us such food hath given
And, to mend what we have done,
Gave into death His only Son.Thou shalt hold with faith unshaken
That this food is to be taken
By the sick who are distressed,
By hearts that long for peace and rest.Christ says, “Come, all ye that labor,
And receive My grace and favor;
They who feel no want nor ill
Need no physician’s help nor skill.“Useless were for thee My Passion
If thy works thy weal could fashion.
This feast is not spread for thee
If thine own savior thou wilt be.”If thy heart this truth professes,
And thy mouth thy sin confesses,
His dear guest thou here shalt be,
And Christ Himself shall banquet thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal
