  Lord, her watch Thy Church is keeping: When shall earth Thy rule obey? When shall end the night of weeping? When shall break the promised day? See the whitening harvest languish, Waiting still the laborers’ toil; Was it vain, Thy Son’s deep anguish? Shall the strong retain the spoil?   Once more, O Lord, Thy sign shall be Upon the heav’ns displayed, And earth and its inhabitants Be terribly afraid: For not, in weakness clad, Thou com’st, Our woes, our sins to bear, But girt with all Thy Father’s might, His judgment to declare. The terrors of that awful day O who can understand? Or who abide, when Thou in wrath Shall lift Thy holy hand?
