[8:12]  1 sn Weeping and gnashing of teeth is a figure for remorse and trauma, which occurs here because of exclusion from God’s promise.

[8:16]  2 sn Note how the author distinguishes healing from exorcism here, implying that the two are not identical.

[8:31]  3 tn Grk “asked him, saying.” The participle λέγοντες (legontes) is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated.

[10:1]  4 tn Grk “And he.”

[10:1]  5 sn Unclean spirits refers to evil spirits.

[10:1]  6 tn Grk “and every [kind of] sickness.” Here “every” was not repeated in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[12:24]  5 sn See the note on Pharisees in 3:7.

[12:24]  6 tn Grk “except by Beelzebul.”

[12:24]  7 tn Or “prince.”

[15:17]  6 tn Or “into the latrine.”

[17:19]  7 tn Grk “coming, the disciples said.” The participle προσελθόντες (proselqontes) has been translated as a finite verb to make the sequence of events clear in English.
