• [Psa 66:19] God From On High Hath Heard

  God from on high hath heard; Let sighs and sorrows cease; Lo! from the opening Heav’n descends To man the promised Peace. Hark! through the silent night Angelic voices swell; Their joyful songs proclaim that “God Is born on earth to dwell.” See how the shepherd band Speed on with eager feet; Come to the hallowed cave with them The Holy Babe to greet. But, oh, what sight appears Within that lowly door! A manger, stall, and swaddling clothes, A Child and mother poor! Art Thou the Christ? the Son? The Father’s image bright? And see we Him Whose arm upholds Earth and the starry height? Yea, faith can pierce the cloud Which veils Thy glory now; We hail Thee, God, before Whose throne The angels prostrate bow. A silent Teacher, Lord, Thou bidd’st us not refuse To bear what flesh would have us shun, To shun what flesh would choose.   My God, is any hour so sweet From blush of morn to evening star, As that which calls me to Thy feet— The hour of prayer? Blest is that tranquil hour of morn, And blest that hour of solemn eve, When, on the wings of prayer upborne, The world I leave. Then is my strength by Thee renewed; Then are my sins by Thee forgiv’n; Then dost Thou cheer my solitude With hopes of Heav’n. No words can tell what sweet relief There for my every want I find, What strength for warfare, balm for grief, What peace of mind. Hushed is each doubt, gone every fear; My spirit seems in Heav’n to stay; And e’en the penitential tear Is wiped away. Lord, till I reach yon blissful shore, No privilege so dear shall be As thus my inmost soul to pour In prayer to Thee.

Psalms 116:1

• [Psa 116:1] I Love The Lord, For My Request

  I love the Lord, for my request And humble plea He makes His care; In Him through life my faith shall rest, For He both hears and answers prayer. Brought nigh to death and full of grief, The Lord’s salvation I besought; He heard my cry, and sent relief, My soul from depths of woe He brought. Most kind and righteous is the Lord, Our God is merciful indeed; Delighting ever to afford His help to me in time of need. Return unto thy rest, my soul, The Lord has richly dealt with thee, Delivered thee from death’s control, From sin and sorrow set thee free. Since He has freed mine eyes from tears And kept my feet from evil ways, Redeemed from life’s distressing fears, With Him I walk, and Him I praise. In my affliction and my pain, When fears alarmed and hopes deceived, I found all human helpers vain, But in the Lord my soul believed.

  I love the Lord; He heard my cries, And pitied every groan; Long as I live, when troubles rise, I’ll hasten to His throne. I love the Lord; He bowed His ear, And chased my griefs away; O let my heart no more despair, While I have breath to pray! My flesh declined, my spirits fell, And I drew near the dead; While inward pangs and fears of hell Perplexed my wakeful head. “My God,” I cried, “Thy servant save, Thou ever good and just; Thy power can rescue from the grave, Thy power is all my trust.” The Lord beheld me sore distressed, He bid my pains remove; Return, my soul, to God thy rest, For thou hast known His love. Isaiah 58:1

• [Isa 58:1] O Cry Aloud And Spare Not

  O cry aloud and spare not, Ye watchmen on the wall, Unless we go to battle Our Zion here will fall. Put on the Gospel armor; Put on the shoes of peace. We’ll fight till He with glory Shall cause all wars to cease. The multitudes run blindly Along the large, broad way. They’re crying peace and safety And know not what they say. Wake up and sense the danger, My friends, be cleansed within; Not just a carnal Christian, “Ye must be born again!”
